Abstract The corrosion polarization behavior of 439ll ferritic (439ll), 316L austenitic (316L), and NO7208 nickel-chromium-aluminum-iron (NO7208) stainless steels, Ti6Al4V titanium (Ti6Al4V) alloys was studied in 4 M H 2 SO + 5% NaCl solution at 35 70°C. Corrosion rate ( C R ) the were generally higher alloy exhibited resistance to general 35°C (0.067 0.050 mm/year) while most reactive (0.506 mm/year). Passivation evident on plots alloys. pitted 1.04 V with passivation range 0.17 V. Corrosion Behavior of Stainless Steel Clad Rebar
Stainless steel clad rebar (SCR) was investigated because it may become a cost-effective means of controlling corrosion in concrete under very aggressive environments. Sound SCR (316L cladding) resisted corrosion in saturated Ca(OH)2 solution (SCS) with up to 5 wt% chloride. Cladding breaks on SCR induced significant corrosion of exposed underlying CS in SCS with only 1 wt% chloride. A computer...
متن کاملPassivation and corrosion behaviours of AISI 316L stainless steel as implant materials in simulated blood environment
The purpose of the study was evaluation of corrosion resistance of steel 316L used in cardiologic treatment mainly for vascular stents. The study analysed influence of electrochemical and chemical treatment of the steel surface, including sterilisation with pressurised water steam, on its corrosion characteristics. The tests were performed in artificial blood plasma simulating human blood envir...
متن کاملCorrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel in sulphuric acid
The resistance and susceptibility of austenitic stainless steel, Type 304, exposed to strong tetraoxosulphate (VI) acids (2 and 5 M concentrations) contaminated with sodium chloride at ambient temperatures was investigated by gravimetric and metallographic/scanning electron microscopy surface characterization methods. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to examine and characterize the t...
متن کاملGrowth Defects and Chromium Content Loss during the Deposition of Stainless Steel by CAE-PVD and Its Effect on the Corrosion and Passivation Behavior of the Coating
In the present study, the effects of growth defects and chromium content loss on the degradation of corrosion and passivation of cathodic arc evaporation (CAE-PVD) of stainless steel coating were investigated in 2 M sulphuric acid solution. EDS analysis indicated that the micro-particles were obtained during the coating growth. In addition, it was detected that the growth defects had poor adhes...
متن کاملEffect of bonding temperature on the microstructure and electrochemical corrosion behavior of TLP bonded AISI 304L stainless steel
Transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of AISI 304L stainless steel was carried out using BNi-2 amorphous interlayer. The microstructure of the joint area was studied by using optical and scanning electron microscopes and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The effect of bonding temperature (1030-1110 °C) was studied on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of the TLP bonded samples. Electrochemi...
